Translation of Poem of Khoshal Baba into English

1-

په    کاتۀ  شــم   و   عالـــم    وته  حېران

I am stunned when I observe the people

چې   د  نس   د    پاره  څۀ   کا  دا سګان 

And what such dogs do for their selfish motives

2-

هسې   چارې  يې   پيدا    شي له  وجوده

The weird ideas they create with their minds

چې په   فکر  ذکر نه   وي  دا   شېطــــان 

Even the devil couldn't think of such nasty things

3-

تل قرآن    د   وړاندې اېښى   قرآن   لولې

They always keep Qora'an in front & recite it

ولې هيڅ   عمل يې   نه وي   په    قـــرآن 

While their actions are not compliant with Qora'an

4-

که     هر    څو ورته     د پند خبره   واٸی 

But even if they are repeatedly given advice 

د پلار    پند ٸې    هم ښه نه لګي په زان

They are deaf to the advice even from their parents

5-

په کوم لوري پسې ځم چېرته  يې غواړم

Which direction do I take to reform them?

د   کېميا    غوندي  ناياب   شول  دانايان

Intelligent people are rare like costly medicines

6-

ښه سړې لعل و  ياقوت دي   مونده نشي

Good people are hard to find  like precious stones

لکه      نور   کاڼي   لږ      نه  دي  ناکسان

While bad people are more like cheap stones

7-

که په نور خلقو کې ښه سړے مونده شي 

If good people exist abundantly among other races

ولې  ښه  سړي    به  لږ     وي      افغانان

Why should good people be fewer among Afghans?

8-

هره     چار د پښتانه  تر مغول  ښه     ده

Pashtuns are better than the Moghuls in all aspects

اتفاق      ورڅخه   نشته      ډېر     ارمان

But regrettably Pashtuns lack unity badly

9-

د بهلول  او   د    شېرشاه     خبري   اورم

I have heard of Behlol Lodhi & Sher Shah Suri

چي په هند کښې پښتانه وو     بادشاهان

They were Pashtun emperors of India in the past

10-

شپږ اووه پېړۍ يې  هسي  بادشاهي   وه

They ruled India for six, seven generations

چي په دوی پوري  ټول خلق  وو  حيران

People wondered at their glorious rule

11-

يا هغه پښتانه نور وو دا  څه  نور    شول

Were those great Pashtuns other than the present lot ?

يا د خدائے دې اوس دا هسي شان فرمان

Or, is it the divine will to now produce bad quality Pashtuns

12-

که  توفيق   د    اتفاق      پښتانه   مومي

If Pashtuns get united & have unity

زوړ خوشحال به دوباره شي په  دا ځوان

Old Khoshal will get revitalized like a youth

ستر خوشحال خټک
